Picking Syracuse’s Next Mayor
Mike Greenlar / The Post-Standard
THE CANDIDATES ON DOWNTOWN Democratic mayoral candidate Joe Nicoletti answers a question at the CNYSpeaks pre-primary forum. He’s flanked by Democrat Carmen Harlow and Republican/Conservative Otis Jennings. Looking on are Democrat Alfonso Davis, Republican Steve Kimatian (obscured by Davis), and Democrat Stephanie Miner. Kimatian, Miner and Jennings have committed to a second forum on Downtown that will let us explore more in depth how they intend to improve the city center.
The CNYSpeaks’s Mayor Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 27, is a great chance to build off of the forum CNYSpeaks hosted in September with the six candidates who were in the race heading into the primary.
The forum lead to a wealth of information on how the different candidates would approach improving the city center.
Here’s a transcript of the event. You can find press accounts of the evening here, and audio files here.

Writing in Joe Nicoletti is the only way we will elect a Mayor who cares about this city and the people who live here and work here.
The primary is not the election and people don’t know they can still Write-In the candidate they want. I can not understand how people who believe Joe was the man who would lead this city into better days can just walk away from those beliefs and then just get behind someone else. I am not one of those people and didn’t change my feelings and will write-in Joe for Syracuse Mayor. I know if everyone writes him in he will be our Mayor. The power is in the people(but they don’t know it) not the rich and people who think they control this city because they are the “In” crowd.
We have lost the city of yesteryear and our city is gray and depressed. I use to see a downtown that was colorful and beautiful. I know Joe can make that happen again.
