Listen to the Candidates on Election Day
Here’s some audio from the CNYSpeaks forum last week. You can hear the candidates’ address questions on marketing, sustainability and on whether Downtown is more likely to get the development we want by either strengthening or relaxing existing design guidelines. The candidates’ closing remarks are also posted.

I agree that economic development is the way to the future for downtown. I attended the forum as well.
I hope the new mayor will follow thru with statements she made about developing a economic development office that is staffed with customer service, or case managers, that will assist new businesses with getting thru the hoops of establishing businesses in our city.
I also hope that she will be fair in balancing, as she put it, “development with accountability.” It does seem like we will need incentives, tax breaks, whatever, for businesses to come as well and I hope the mayor will be open to developing such incentives.
I think Syracuse is a great city and deserves a chance to develop.
